Preschool 1 Week

Preschool 1

Hello Families!

We had a great time learning all about Spring this week! We revisited the four seasons of the year during Morning Meeting. We discussed the different types of weather during Spring and how quickly and often it can change. We also discussed how springtime is our rainy season in New England and how it helps all aspects of nature. We even got to see some birds taking a bath in the giant puddle in the parking lot.

We enjoyed reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. We talked about the life cycle of a butterfly and learned a new caterpillar song. A few other books we read this week were, Curious George Plants a Seed by H. A. Rey  and Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlert. We discussed what sort of things we would like to plant in a garden. We also learned another new song called Grow a Plant. Ask your child to sing it to you!

During Choice Time, your children had so much fun playing “Flower Shop” in dramatic play, acting out scenarios with our playground Playmobil set and hiding treasure in plastic carrots in the sand table. We were busy at the art table creating colorful butterflies, painting with rubber ducks and frogs and practicing our cutting skills while creating a beautiful tulip! We rounded out the week with lots of outdoor fun. The children were very excited to play with our new mud kitchen on  the playground. We went on a Spring nature walk and observed lots of pretty flowers, looked for insects and listened to the birds singing.

As always, please feel free to reach out to us anytime on our classroom email – Preschool1@wnsh.org

Have a great weekend!
