Terrific Twos

December 12th Newsletter

The Terrific Twos had a super busy fun week! We continued to talk about pets and where they live. We also thought about what makes an animal a pet.  We decided that a pet has to be able to live in your home with you. We worked together to sort animals into two categories: Pets OR not pets. When we really imagined an elephant or a hippo in our living room we knew it would not make a great pet!

The kiddos all love the classic story of Frosty the Snowman. We read the book and sing the song each day. We have also worked on the notion of a snowman made of 3 circles. We worked together to position 3 circles to make a snowman!m. We extended the lesson to give everyone a chance to make their own snowman. We will work on this more in the New Year during our Winter Wonderland theme.

This week we also incorporated some holiday crafts with the 2 Day class because we will say “Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukkah and Happy New Year” to them all on Friday December 12th. We will also sing with Miss Elaine that day.

The 3 Day class will be back with us on Monday and Tuesday and we will have our little “holiday workshop” on those two days.

The holiday break is quite a long one. We come back to school on Monday January 5th 2026.

During that time we would encourage you to work on potty training. From our point of view, as educators, all the children are ready. Out of a total of 18 children, 5 are potty trained and many of them are on the younger side. The book Oh Crap! Potty Training by Jamie Glowacki has been highly recommended and it is available through Amazon and Audible. Perhaps you could choose a long weekend or four days in a row where you can “stay put,” stick to the plan, anticipate some setbacks but know that you will be successful.

We are happy to partner with you to help in any way we can. With that said, we have no problem changing diapers and we are NOT expecting the children to come back from vacation trained. It is more about making a start, fostering independence and instilling the knowledge that they can be successful when they persevere.

We are wishing you all the most blessed and joyful holiday season with your beautiful families. We look forward to more fun, learning and friendship in 2026.

Happy New Year!
