Terrific Twos Newsletter: Week 5

Dear Families,

This week, we wrapped up our Introduction to School theme. It is hard to believe how much your amazing children have accomplished in just four weeks! They have successfully learned to:

• 👋 Say confident “goodbyes” to parents and caregivers.
• 🧗 Master climbing up and down the stairs with growing persistence.
• 🎒 Hang up their own backpacks and find their special chairs.
• 📚 Enjoy quiet book time with classmates before starting the day.
• 🎵 Sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” with star wands and practice the “ABC Song.”
• ✨ Make independent choices and adapt beautifully to our daily routines.
• 🤝 Practice the names of their teachers and new friends.

All of this and more in just one month—we are so proud of them!

🏫 Learning the Rules of School

During the week of October 12th, our curriculum focused on “What are the Rules at School?” We keep things simple, focusing on four core values that keep us safe and happy together:

1. “We are Safe” – We practice using walking feet in the classroom and keeping our hands “soft.”
2. “We are Kind” – We treat our friends nicely and notice how they are feeling. We have already seen some beautiful moments of kindness!
3. “We are Flexible” – We are learning to share materials, practice waiting for a turn, and try new things.
4. “We Take Care of our Classroom” – When the cleanup bell rings, everyone helps put the toys away. We are truly amazed by what helpful cleaners our twos are!

🎨 Art & Fine Motor Skills

This week, the children used sticky boards to create beautiful colorful  collages using small multicolored squares. This relaxing activity helped develop their spatial awareness and fine motor coordination. Our Art Gallery looks incredibly vibrant!

🍏 Looking Ahead: All About Apples and Everything Fall!

On October 19th, we will begin a fun two-week exploration of apples, acorns, pumpkins and squirrels.  We will introduce exciting new paint techniques and kick off some hands-on science experiments, starting with: “What happens to an apple when you cut it?”

Our Thursday morning three-day class enjoyed a wonderful surprise! As we wrapped up our time in the big room, we received an unexpected visit from Animal Adventures. While our Terrific Twos don’t typically participate in this specialist activity, today they got the special opportunity to meet Junior the chinchilla. The children were absolutely thrilled by their cool new friend!

IMPORTANT! Please label all clothing that comes to school with your child, specifically outerwear.  Not just those that are left at school as extras. We have a navy blue zip up sweatshirt that went home with the wrong child. If you are missing this, please let us know and we will get it back to you.
